Along the main road, in front of the Indian temple and a block away from the Store in Sitiawan is a tiny unassuming little store. One that is not flashy and gets all packed up and stored away at night and yet it attracts a lot of customers, many in nice big cars from outstation. Everyone is there for one thing – the famous James Chendol! All dressed in white with a big red bowtie, James’ wife serves up bowl after bowl of chendol.
Chendol is an asian dessert containing shaved ice, coconut milk, palm sugar and chendol (green short noodles flavored with pandan leaf). Sometimes kidney beans, pulut (glutinous rice), grass jelly or even durian are added to it. As for James Chendol, the mixture of coconut milk to palm sugar is just right that the coconut milk does not overpower the other taste. The chendol are also soft & kinda melt to the mouth. Yum! James Chendol is so famous that it has spawn copycat chendol sellers that set up their stalls next to James. So make sure you drop by the original chendol stall if you are planning to drop by.

the ice macam very kasar eh?
I want that tooo
I would love to try those unique flavors. It always seems strange to me to have beans in desserts. I wished I liked them more.
