Bento #59 – Potato & Chicken Day

February 27, 2009

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been 5 days since I last updated this blog. I have not been feeling well lately. There has been a nasty flu bug that has been going around the community and unfortunately the whole family caught it too. So it has been lots of sniffles and coughing around the house. Needless to say, there has not been much cooking or baking around the house lately. So for now, here’s another bento from the archives.

Bento #59 - Potato & Chicken Day

The pink flower cup contains roast chicken (leftovers courtesy of Costco!) while the blue cup contains lingonberry sauce. For some reason, Lil’ C loves to eat her roast chicken with the lingonberry sauce which is from Ikea. In the bottom tier, there’s mashed potato balls sprinkled with colorful sprinkles, chocolate Pocky and green grapes.

Have a good weekend everyone! This weekend, I think I am just going to take it easy, relax and maybe check out a health blog or two, and hopefully will be fully recovered from this nasty cold by the start of next week.

Sorry you have been sick…hope you all feel better soon.

Do you just roll mashed potatoes together to form the balls or do you add something to make them more stiff?

You give me such great ideas for lunch fun everytime I come back…thanks for your creativity…keep it up!

Hi Kellie, I don’t add anything to the mashed potato but I did leave it in the fridge overnight. I take it out of the fridge just before rolling it, so it will be a little hard. If you are using freshly-made mashed potato, it will be harder to roll. You will probably need to use a ice-cream scoop. Hope that helps.
