Spicy Crispy Anchovies (Ikan Bilis) and Peanuts

Everytime I come back from Malaysia, there is one foodstuff that I would always bring back and that is ikan bilis (anchovies). Actually I can get ikan bilis easily here but they usually do not look fresh, so I try to avoid getting them here. I usually get mine from Pangkor Island and the anchovies are as fresh as they can be.

I use my ikan bilis for making soup and nasi lemak. Another dish that I like to make with my ikan bilis is this spicy crispy ikan bilis and peanuts. This can be cooked and kept in the fridge for those quick meals.

Sorry I do not have the exact measurement. Basically what I do is

  • Fry the ikan bilis till crispy. Remove and drain
  • Roast the peanuts till fragrant.
  • Heat up a little oil in a pan.
  • Add in some sambal (I use the bottled sambal)
  • Then add in ikan bilis and peanuts and mix all together.
  • Add in a little sugar and mix till well-mixed.
  • Remove and keep in air-tight container in fridge.

Choosing the right webhosting

I have been blogging for about 1.5 years now. Through this time, I have learned that it is not just important to post delicious food photos and recipes for my reader, I also have to make sure that that my web hosting is reliable. After all, if your website is always down, your readers would not visit even if you have the best recipes available. That is why before I decide on my webhosting, I will visit webhosting to check the ratings of each individual webhost before I make my decision. Webhostingrating.com also had lots of useful articles available like this tips for choosing a domain article. If you are looking for a webhosting, don’t forget to check out webhostingrating.com first to make sure you choose the right webhost.

Chandler’s Crabhouse, Seattle

We usually eat out on the weekends. Whenever possible, we like to try out different restaurants and this is one of them that we tried out sometime ago - Chandler’s Crabhouse. Located at South Lake Union, Chandler’s Crabhouse has an awesome view of the lake. If you are lucky, you can even get to see seaplanes take off or land while having lunch.

Foodwise, I had the crabcakes. I really like it.

Chandler's Crabhouse Crabcakes

Hubby had the Alaskan King Crab. He thought it was ok, nothing special. The portion was just a little too small for him.

Overall even though the food was good but it was pretty expensive. I would have to say that the view is more attractive to me than the food. I would probably go back again just for the view.

How to make grilled ham & cheese sandwich

This is one of Lil’ C’s favorite food. It is one of those food that I keep as a backup whenever she’s hungry since it is fast and easy to make.

Sprinkle some cheese on the bread. Here I use a mixture of cheddar and mozzarella.
Grilled Ham&Cheese 1

Then add some ham or turkey.
Grilled Ham&Cheese 2

Add more cheese.
Grilled Ham&Cheese 3

Cover with the other piece of bread. Then spread some butter on the outside of the bread.
Grilled Ham&Cheese 4

Then place it butter-side down on the pan to pan-fry till crispy. Meanwhile, add some butter to the top of the bread. Then flip over carefully to pan-fry that side.
Grilled Ham&Cheese 5

Then add some celery sticks with peanut butter (or any other vegetables) and strawberries with dip for a yummy meal.

Looking for costumes?

I cannot believe it is almost the end of August already. Time really flies! School will start in just a couple of weeks and pretty soon after that will be Halloween. I still remember last year was the first Halloween that my 2 ½ year old went trick or treating. She wore a little princess costume. She looked so cute!

This year I have no idea what kind of costume she wants. I am sure that I can find some inspiration at HalloweenAdventure.com which has a huge selection of unique halloween costumes for both kids and adults. They have all sorts of Halloween costumes available from Superhero costumes to Pirate Costumes. This year, maybe I should pick matching Disney costumes for both myself and my daughter. We could both be princesses since we both love to dress up in our nicest clothes. I am sure that she will be so thrilled.

What about you? Have you decided on your Halloween costume yet? If not, go and check out HalloweenAdventure.com today. If you order between now and October 10 th, 2008, you can get 5% off your order by using the coupon code PPP05BLOG2008. Don’t forget to visit their blog to keep up with the latest news in the costume industry.
