Apam Balik
When I was living in KL, everytime I go to the pasar malam, I would always buy the crispy Apam Balik. But in US, if I want to eat, have to make it myself. I’ve tried many recipes but have never been able to produce the same crispy texture as those in the pasar malam. Most of it will be crispy when hot but will turn soft when it’s cold. So when I saw the recipe in Lily’s blog, (FYI: Lily’s an awesome cook!) I just had to try it and the result . . . . . . .

It was so…. good!!!! The most important thing is that it is crispy & remained crispy for long time. This recipe is definitely a keeper. Thanks Lily!

Banana cupcakes again!

Yesterday was the last day for toddler’s playgroup. So I had to bring a dessert for the potluck picnic in the park. Too lazy to make something new, I ended up making my ever faithful banana cake (recipe from here: http://auntyyochana.blogspot.com/2006/07/banana-cake.html) into mini cupcakes. Due to strict food rules at the playgroup, I opted to omit the frosting & just dust the top with a little icing sugar & added a little star sprinkle.

Strawberry Jelly

One of the many in my To-Bake list, I finally found the time to make this Strawberry Cream Cheese Jello. I use the recipe from here : http://auntyyochana.blogspot.com/2006/12/heart-jelly_25.html except that I use Graham Crackers for the base. Had a little trouble cutting the jello. Tastewise, it’s pretty interesting. Not quite what I expected. Maybe I was expecting it to taste more cheesecakey. The white layer ended tasting more jello-like than cheesecake-like. But it was fun making it & it sure looks pretty! : )

Seafood Yee Mee

I could find any Yee Mee here like those in Malaysia. This is closest that I could find. It’s called E-fu Noodles. Like they say in Hokkien (Chinese dialect) - “No fish, shrimp also good!!” Heeheee….
