I love all sorts of desserts but if you ask me to name a favorite dessert, I would have to say it is macarons. Not to be confused with the coconut macaroon, this one is made from egg white, almond flour and sugar. My first attempt at making macarons was a pretty successful one, according to my standard anyway.
Since the niece wanted to learn to make macaron, I decided to try again. This time I used the basic French Meringue Macaron recipe from Tartelette. Instead of buying almond flour, I made my own by grinding up almond instead which I think it’s a great idea because the store-bought almond flour are rather coarse. With just a few simple ingredients of egg white, almond flour and powdered sugar, I think our macarons turned out really good.
I forgot to take a photo with the filling. I filled it with the caramel that I made earlier, topped with a little sea salt and it was delicious. I think I will be making these a lot more since it is C loves macarons too. Otherwise I will have to fork out $1.50 each for a small one at the bakery. 🙂
