The Little Mermaid – Ariel Cake

It has been 3 months since I baked my last birthday cake.So it is time to get back into action with this sweet cake. The little 3 year old cutie pie had a hard time deciding between Ariel or Dora. In the end Ariel won. This was a fun cake to make. The cake is a lemon butter cake with lemon curd buttercream. The rock that Ariel is sitting on and the treasure chest are made from rice crispies. The sand is actually graham crackers that has been grounded to resemble sand. Everything else is made from either marshmallow fondant or gum paste. As for Ariel, I bought a Ariel doll and stuck it into the cake. After the cake is cut, the birthday girl even got a new Ariel doll to play with. : P

This is beautiful! Love the colors! Does the Ariel doll have a tail underneath? It looks edible. 🙂
