Taking a little break from bento posts, here’s a post from one of our weekend wanderings. Washington is a beautiful state filled with lots of little island and small towns. So whenever possible, we try to get away for little weekend trips. Last month we went to a charming little island called Bainbridge Island which is a 30 minutes ferry ride away from Seattle.

Being the foodies that we are, the best part of weekend wanderings is definitely the search for food and we ended up in Cafe Nola.

Cafe Nola at Bainbridge Island

Cafe Nola was featured as the best brunch spot in Seattle in one of Giada’s Weekend Getaways on Food Network

Caramel Pecan French Toast

At Cafe Nola, I had the famous Caramel Pecan French Toast consisting of challah bread, smoked bacon, orange bourbon butter, fresh fruit and pure maple syrup. It was really good. Here’s the RECIPE if you are interested.

Grilled Wild Salmon Reuben

DH had the Grilled Wild Salmon Reuben with gruyere, essential focaccia, “bainbridge island” slaw and fries.

After the delicious brunch we walked around town, checked out some quaint little shops before heading back on another ferry. Will be back with more weekend wanderings soon, hopefully.
