As the school year is on its home stretch now, I am finding that I have no time to make bentos anymore. There are so much going on in Lil’ C’s school as everyone is trying to wrap up the school year. Field trips, concerts, birthday parties for those summer babies, sports days, teacher appreciation week are just some of the activities going on now. So for these couple of weeks, I am making cakes instead of bento. Don’t worry, I am not giving up on bento but I will probably take a short bento break over the summer and be back in the fall with lots of bentos!
As I mentioned, last week we had teacher appreciation week. Each day was a themed day and the kiddos had to do something according to the theme to show their appreciation for their teacher. For the last day, the theme was sweets and treats. So I baked a cake for Lil’ C’s teacher to show our appreciation.
It’s a chocolate mud cake covered in marshmallow fondant. Everything on top of the cake were made with gum paste.
