Fried Nian Gao (Sticky Rice Cake)

Fried Nian Gao

Yes, I know it’s already July and way past Chinese New Year. :P  It’s just that I happen to be cleaning out my freezer today and found a nian gao that was given by my friend S during CNY this year. Normally eaten during Chinese New Year, it can be frozen for a long time. I had actually forgotten that I had it frozen. I guess it’s a good idea to clean up the freezer every couple of months. You’ll never know what treasures you’ll discover. :)

Since we are at home all day today, I decided to fry it up for teatime today using this Chien Gion frying powder which I got from the Asian grocery store.

Flour for Banana Fritters

Delish especially with a cuppa of coffee! I wonder if I can find any more goodies in the freezer!! :)
