Foodbuzz Featured Publisher Dinner at Brasa

in Eating Out By Cuisine Type, FoodBuzz, Seattle & Suburbs

I have to confess when I first received the invitation to the Foodbuzz Featured Publisher Dinner, I was a little hesitant. Being the introvert that I am, the idea of having dinner with a bunch of strangers was a little nerve-wracking. But the thought of a delicious dinner at Brasa was just too tempting for the foodie in me to resist. So off I went to Brasa for a night out with my fellow food bloggers while Lil’ C and daddy had a pizza and movie night.

It turned out to be a ladies night out, all 11 of us. (1 family. friendly. food., CakeSpy.com, Dianasaur, DigginFood, Julie Jams, Passionate Psyche, Puget Sound Cookery, Seattle Tall Poppy, The GastroGnome,
The Pink Hobart,) The dinner turned out to be awesome. You know what is the best thing about having dinner with food bloggers? Well, besides the good company? It is when everyone pulls out the camera when the food is served!! Usually when I am dining with other non-blogger friends, I always find it awkward to take photos of the food. But with food bloggers, the food gets bombarded with paparazzi moments without any awkwardness. :P

Now on to the food . . . . . .

Brasa_Octopus

For my appetizer, I had the Octopus with piquillo pepper, chickpeas, frisee, blood orange. I really like this dish. The chewy grilled octopus was great dipped in the sauce.

Brasa_PortuguesePig

For my main course, I had the Portuguese Pig with clams, chorizo, bay scented potato in smoked paprika sauce. Maybe I had high expectations but I was a little disappointed with this dish. The pork was a little too dry for my liking. Maybe I was supposed to soak it in the sauce first? I’m not sure. I think next time I’ll try the paella instead.

Brasa_ChocolateMoltenCake
For dessert, I had the Vahlrona Chocolate Molten Cake with Creme Anglaise. Very good but very rich. Great way to wrap up the dinner.

Overall, I would say that for a group of strangers meeting for the first time, this was an awesome dinner! We even got the opportunity to meet the owner of Brasa, James Beard Award Winner, Tamara Murphy. Did you know that she appeared on Iron Chef competing with Mario Batali? That’s cool!! Anyway, I just wanted to say a great big thanks to Nurit for all her effort in organizing this dinner and to Foodbuzz for picking up the tab and making this dinner possible!! :)

That was a fun night, I think we were all a little nervous. It definitely felt like we were the food paparazzi! I wish I’d tried the octopus, if I ever go back that’s what I want. It was so good to meet you!
