Groceries at my front door!

It is an understatement to say that I have been busy the last few months. Between my new part-time job and Lil’ C’s school & activities, it has been hard to keep up with everything. Cooking, baking and even blogging had been pushed to the back burner for a while. But now with the year winding down and a new year in sight, I am determined to try to get a little more organized for the next year. So now I am making a list of things to be done to make my life a little easier.

Guess what is the first item on my list? It is to get my groceries delivered!! Going grocery shopping can be fun but it can also be really tiring with a 4 year old in tow. Also I end up with a lot of unnecessary grocery that were not on my shopping list. So to save time & money, I am going to do my shopping online with AmazonFresh. I am sure that most of you have shopped at Amazon for books, right but did you know that they have started selling groceries too? Actually they have just started this service and is currently only in the Seattle area. Last week I signed up with them and tried it out.

I ordered it late at night and by the next day, I had these boxes sitting at my front door. Actually I can either order by midnight and they will arrive at my door before 6 am (works great if you run out of milk for breakfast) or I can order 4 hours ahead during the day and have them delivered 4 hours later.

The yellow box contained all the non-chill items while the frozen & chilled items were kept in a thick insulated bag complete with ice pack.

I was really happy with the quality of the groceries. Even the bananas were at the right ripeness. I even managed to include a hairgel together with the groceries. I am definitely going to order from them again. Looks like I can check off the first item off my list. Yay!

P/s: this is not a paid post. 🙂

wow….yeah, the quality really looks great. i wonder do they do it here in northern ireland. but anyway, tesco’s just a few blocks away from my house, so i guess i’ll have to shop for my grocery personally

Frankly I would prefer to shop personally if I have more time. 🙂

Yes, all the fruit and veggies look great! Do you have to pay for the delivery fee? Like we pay $2 for milk delivery.

    Delivery is free if >$30.

When I lived in the Bay Area, I used Safeway’s grocery delivery all the time. It was odd at first, but they have stored shopping lists so you can go through what you regularly purchase and choose them again. You can flip through the sales ads and search for only “buy one get one free” items. And you could select an option for them to replace an out of stock item with another — for example, if they were out of the Smuckers Grape Jam, you could say you’d take Smuckers Strawberry instead. Or you could opt to pick a different brand of the same flavor. That could be problematic if you’re rigid with your budget, but if it’s an item you really need to have, it was worth it. The best thing about it was the delivery — especially since I lived on the 3rd floor of an apartment building.

My only complaint was that the fruit/veggies were poorly chosen – usually it was best to just go to the store and select those items yourself. Oh and one time, they simply didn’t deliver at all and we sat around waiting the entire 4-hour window. But that only happened once in more than 50 deliveries – and they gave me a $50 credit for our troubles. Overall I loved the service.

Sorry for posting on such an old post, but just found your blog today and I’m reading the whole thing! 😀

I’m so jealous of Seattle people. I would LOVE to be able to use Amazon Fresh! It’s really difficult to shop because I don’t have a car. I would KILL for a grocery delivery service in my area 😀 It’d be nice to not have to beg for a ride and inconvenience others. :3

Your bento are so cute, btw. Your daughter’s lucky to have such a nice mommy. 🙂
