My husband is a computer geek and I am sure that he will love this pair of cool cufflinks that I just found on cuff-daddy.com. It looks just like the delete button on his keyboard. I am sure that when he wears it, it will definitely attract the attention of his computer geek friends too. This cufflink also has a satin finish which will help to minimize scratches. Bento #24 - Corn Dog Day

Bento #24 - Corn Dog Day

Today’s bento: Mini corn dog with ketchup for dipping, raspberries and a little cheese stick flower.

Lil’ C is crazy over corn dogs these days. She just loves it. In case you are not familiar with corn dog, it’s actually a hot dog that is coated in a batter and then deep-fried. I am using the frozen ones and they can be found in the freezer section in the grocery store.

Kitchen Tip: Freezing spaghetti sauce

Filed under Bento, Freezing, Kitchen Tip

When I first started making bentos for Lil’ C, I found that I was always throwing away leftover spaghetti sauce. I only needed a little for her bentos and never seem to be able to finish the whole bottle by the end of the week. Then I began to freeze them in an ice-cube tray. They work ok but I always forget how many cubes to use when I wanted to cook. Then I found a better solution - the lock-lock box! (see my bento supplies)

Freezing Spaghetti Sauce

I find the little cubes to be the perfect size. Each cube is just the right portion for a day’s lunch. So now I freeze the remaining spaghetti sauce in the lock-lock box and just use 1 cube whenever I need it. No more throwing away leftover sauce!

I bought my lock-lock box at a Korean grocery store. So if you are looking for one, check your local Korean grocery store.

Find a new web hosting

When I first started blogging, I did not know much about web hosting. So when I decided to get my own domain, I just selected a web hosting based on a friend’s recommendation. Now, a year later, I have a little more knowledge and since my web hosting is about to expire, I have started to do my own research for a new webhost for my blog. While researching, I came across Web Hosting Geeks. They have lots of information on all the different webhosts along with prices, reviews and ratings of each webhosts. I am definitely going to spend some time here reading and comparing the different webhosts before I decide on one. Ultimately I want to make sure that I find a reliable yet cheap web hosting for my blog so that I can continue to share more of my cooking adventures with all of you.

Orange Berry Muffin

Orange Berry Muffin

Every month, I would borrow the book From My Home to Yours by Dorie Greenspan from the library, only to bookmark some recipes and returning it every month without making anything. Finally after many months, while my parents were in town, I finally managed to try out one of the recipe that I had previously bookmarked.

Since it is blueberry season now, what better recipe to try than the Orange Berry Muffin? This recipe is very easy and quick to make. The verdict? Usually I find muffin recipes to be too sweet but I was surprised to find that this muffin is not sweet at all. The sweetness of the muffin comes from the blueberries which is what I like. This is definitely a keeper.

Dressing up your food

Sorry for being MIA again lately. The weather has been awesome this week and we have been taking advantage of it. We have a very short summer here and so when the sky is blue and the weather is warm, everyone is outside playing. Sometimes I feel like we are just like the bears. We hibernate in the winter and play in the summer. In the winter, the sky turns dark around 4 pm but in the summer, it does not turn dark till almost 10 pm! So we definitely want to take advantage of it while it lasts.

Meals have been very simple this week. we have been eating lots of sandwiches, take-outs or simple BBQ. This is also one of the simple meals that we had this week.

Baked Fish with Tartar Sauce

Fish with Tartar Sauce, Rice Pilaf & Corn. The fish is actually panko-crusted frozen fish from Costco. It’s actually not too bad and very handy for those days that you don’t have time to cook. I dress it up with my own homemade tartar sauce.

Recipe for tartar sauce:
1 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup sweet pickle relish
1/2 cup minced onion
lemon juice
salt & pepper to taste

Mix it all together and refridgerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Fruity Agar-Agar

Fruity Agar-Agar

I love agar-agar especially those with coconut milk. It’s very easy to make. This is what I usually bring to a potluck when I am too lazy to make anything fancy. :P But I usually try to use different molds just to have fun. If you are interested in the recipe, it can be found in my previous post HERE.
