Kam Heong Crabs & Sweet & Spicy Crabs

I’m not too crazy about crabs. Not because I don’t like it but rather it’s due to the fact that I’m too lazy to eat it!! Too much peeling & cracking for a teeny weeny bit of meat….haha…. : p But sometimes I (actually more often it’s the DH) get the cravings for crab, that’s when we have a crab night and get all messy!

Living in the Pacific Northwest, we are very lucky to be able to enjoy huge crabs namely the Alaskan King Crabs & Dungeness Crabs. This time we got 2 Dungeness Crabs and cooked it 2 different ways.

Sweet Spicy Crab

I still prefer the sweet & spicy crab. If only I have those fried Mantou (bun) to soak up all the gravy……..yum……… : p

I absolutely love crabs with chillie tomato sauce. Yes, yes and the mantou.
Crabs are expensive here and the quality is poor. Been disappointed a few times.
I haven’t forgotten your tag. Will do it soon.

Is now Dungeness Crab season? I’m waiting for Nov for big fat juicy dungeness….hee heee. I like crabs. I’m not to lazy to eat it but lazy to cook it…so usually I’ll just steam – brings up the natural sweet flavor of the crabs too 😀

You should have bought some Mantou from the Asian supermart to soak the gravy.

    Wow, absolutely mouth watering!
I love salt-baked crab most of all – it retains and concentrates the sweet natural flavour of the crab meat. Love the roe too, but eating too much of it can make me feel dizzy – high cholesterol!
Are live crabs in the market expensive?

judy: dun worry abt the tag. Do it only when u are free,k?

tigerfish: I think crab season just started. Ya, crab is hard work that’s why hubby does all the cleaning & cutting of the crab. All I have too do is just cook…hehe…

argus: I’ve never tried salt-baked crab. Will have to try that one day. The best crab I’ve ever had is freshly caught ones & boiled in sea water…the best!! I think the Dungeness Crab is about USD$4-7 per lb. So it’s not too bad.

Wonderful recipe! Thanks for sharing. I love sweet and sour but haven’t had crab this way before.

    Thanks, Jaden!
